When this episode of Neutral, my guest today has had a legendary career as a college football

coach for 40 years before being elected the United States Senate to represent the state

of Alabama.

He first joined me on Neutral in January 2022 and we had a great conversation about what

I was like to go from head coach to the US Senate.

He's joining me today to discuss issues he's leading on in the Senate regarding the impact

on the new Title IX policies we're going to have on female athletes and his recent

decision to implement holds on the Department of Defense due to the military's new abortion

rules.

So I'm really pleased to welcome back my guest, Senator Coach Tommy Tuberville.

Just to have people understand how well you understand the Title IX issue, you spent

40 years in higher education as a college football coach.

You were at the University of Miami, Texas A&M, head coach at the University of Mississippi,

named head coach Auburn University where you coached for 11 years.

You led the Tigers to five Western Division titles, one SEC championship and in 2004 you

were the national coach of the year.

You also had head coaching stops at Texas Tech and Cincinnati.

So you've really had a lot of experience in athletics and a lot of experience with Title

IX.

When you did retire after the 2016 season, you were one of the top 50 most winning football
