Gaza Humanitarian Foundation whistleblower and former Green Beret Anthony Aguilar returns to Bad Faith to announce his candidacy to represent North Carolina's 13th Congressional district, where he's running as a Green Party candidate. He answers questions about his military career and addresses concerns about fetishizing military service that were raised during a recent episode about Graham Platner, and he makes the case for why anti-imperialist voters should trust a candidate who has had a relatively late-in-life break from a career in the US military. Why was Gaza the breaking point, how does he plan to win the district that contains Fort Bragg as an anti-war candidate, and who is Anthony Aguilar -- the man?

It was not an agency intended to endure.

0:15.4

It is not an immigration and naturalization services entity.

0:19.6

It is an enforcement entity that since its inception

0:22.8

has grown to the point to where it's now being used to bring upon a police state. And it's out

0:30.5

a check. It's out of balance. It's just in the way that it's being fielded, the way that the ice

agents are being not trained, handed a gun going onto the streets, we see that they're not trained.

0:43.1

They're not trained because they're pumping so many agents into the agency so quickly to grow it to 10,000 agents.

0:49.7

And it's only going to get worse.

I remember a day where the immigration and naturalization and services, INS, was that agency

that worked in coordination with the CPB and other entities within the United States.

And before 2003, the illegal immigration in the United States was down in the 5.3 to 6, rising towards maybe 8 million,

1:14.6

but relatively low because we had processes in the United States for responsible pathways to citizenship.

1:22.9

I support immigration. I think that immigrants make our country great. I think that we're all

1:28.1

immigrants in a way or another and that we should have responsible and healthy immigration policy

1:34.0

and we should encourage immigration. When ICE came on board, you had millions of Americans

1:39.2

living in the United States that were here legally. They did not cross the border illegally. They came here

1:45.5

legally. But then when you got rid of the process for naturalization or the process that kept them

1:51.2

here legally, well, then you had a whole bunch of people that became illegal aliens or illegal

1:56.4

immigrants because the process, there wasn't a process.

2:09.6

So since we've had ICE, illegal immigrants have increased, not because the desire for illegal immigration, but because we removed the process to become a naturalized or legal citizen
