What did you mourn about the situation with Islam in higher education?

And how has it played out, ma'am?

Well, in 2015, January, I believe it was January 15th.

And you may remember that January 7th was when we had the Charle Heptu terrorist attack in France.

And so I warned that we needed to do better monitoring of Islamic organizations

and that they posed a threat to us unless they accepted our Constitution and our way of life. It was an op-ed published

in the Tennessean. It was basically a career ender in the sense that I took early retirement

from academia two years after it was published, and it was a dark period in my life.

I never anticipated such a hostile reaction coming from just about every direction.
