the right place where we will search for truth each week in the stories of the Bible.

In our last episode we learned about Hannah and her son Samuel.

Hannah had prayed for a long time to the Lord for a child.

God and His goodness had blessed Hannah with a son and in return she dedicated

Samuel to serve the Lord his whole life. So when Samuel was old enough, Hannah brought him to Shiloh to the tabernacle, where the high priest

Eli ministered. And Samuel came to live with Eli at the tabernacle and serve the Lord. Samuel grew up under the leadership of

Eli. Every year Samuel's mother Hannah would come and bring him a new robe that she'd made for him. He learned how to take

care of the house of the Lord. He learned how to pray and how to offer the daily

sacrifices before the Lord. This was very special because if you

remember in those days most of the Israelites did not know how to hear from the

Lord they had stopped obeying God and started worshipping false gods. But the Bible

says that the boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare and there were not many

visions. One night while Eli's eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely

see he was lying down in his usual place.

The lamp of God had not yet gone out and Samuel was lying down in the temple or

tabernacle of the Lord where the arc of God was.

Then all of the sudden the Lord called to Samuel.

He said, Samuel, Samuel,

Here I am.

And he ran to Eli and said,

Here I am, you called me.
