On this episode of Neutral, on Wednesday, the Congressional Budget Office released their projections about the national debt.

The United States has untracked had $19 trillion in new debt over 10 years due to rising interest rates and spending bills adding to deficits.

The new forecast project a $1.4 trillion gap this year alone. Think about that. $1.4 trillion this year alone between what the government spends and what it takes in from tax revenues.

Over the next 10 years, deficits will average $2 trillion annually as tax receipts fail to keep pace with the rising cost of social security and Medicare benefits for retiring babyed moments.

My guest today is proposing a solution to this ballooning debt problem. He's introduced House Resolution 19, proposing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, requiring that each agency and department's funding is justified.

I'm really pleased to welcome my guest, Congressman Scott Perry. He's a combat veteran and has represented the people of the 10th Congressional District of Pennsylvania since 2013.

He presently serves on the U.S. House committees on transportation and infrastructure, oversight, and foreign affairs, and is chairman of the House Freedom Caucus.

He retired at the rank of Brigadier General in 2019 after nearly 40 years in uniform.

He served three terms in the Pennsylvania General Assembly as a bachelor's degree from Penn State University and business management,

and a master's in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College at Carlow.

Well, Mr. Speaker, it is awesome to be with you, one of the deep and critical thinkers of our time, who has found solutions to intractable problems in his own right.

And so, as you know, and I don't have to tell your audience, there are many of us who reach out to you during these periods of time to seek your input and guidance on how we get through this.

And I think one of the key things that you mentioned there, the numbers, people's eyes glaze over.

They can't even fathom a trillion of anything. It is so unbelievable when you think about it, it takes like four trillion years to get across our galaxy.

And we're 31 and a half trillion dollars in debt. And now you're talking about adding another 19 in 10 years.

Mr. Speaker, we are taking in record revenue at this very moment.
