0:29.3	It is Valentine's Day, 2023, a happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrate and rest in peace,
0:41.2	Ted Learner.
0:42.2	We on Monday morning learned that nationals, founding principal owner Ted Learner had died.
0:48.6	He was 97, Ted Learner was born on October 15, 1925.
0:55.2	He, while growing up, became an usher at Griffith Stadium for the Washington Senators, he became
1:01.2	immensely successful in real estate.
1:04.7	The Learner Group's purchase of the Nats was vitalized on July 24, 2006.
1:11.4	And Ted was the managing principal owner until June 2018, when his son Mark took over.
1:19.5	Now the Nats on Monday were tweeting out that the Learner's brought baseball back to Washington,
1:26.4	DC.
1:27.4	I'm not sure what that claim is about.
1:29.8	The Montreal Expos moving to DC happened in 2004.
1:34.8	The team's first season in DC was the 2005 season.
1:39.8	And the Learners did not buy the Nats until 2006.
1:43.8	So I don't get with this idea that Ted Learner brought baseball back to DC is coming from.
1:50.6	But Ted Learner deserves a lot of credit for his ownership of the Nats.
1:55.7	And yes, there were nits to pick.
1:58.5	But Ted Learner spending hundreds of millions of dollars on players for the Nats.
