Welcome to episode 50 of From the Front Porch, a collection of conversations on books, small business,

0:07.4

and life in the South. I'm Annie Jones, owner of the bookshelf, an independent bookstore in

0:12.2

beautiful downtown Thomasville, Georgia, and today I'm recapping the books I read in November.

0:18.0

Before I get started, I just wanted to remind everyone to rate and review us on

0:22.0

iTunes. It only takes a quick minute, but it's actually one of the easiest and best things you

0:26.8

can do for the podcast and for the bookshelf. It's a quick way to spread the word about what we're

0:32.0

doing here and what we're doing in Thomasville. So if you have a quick minute, we'd love if you could

0:58.8

snoring in the background. And I will do my best to edit it out, but you have been warned. So

1:04.8

1:12.4

my reading game has been completely off. I've read a few things I've enjoyed.

1:18.4

November was okay. I still was able to get a few books read in the month of November,

1:24.0

but it's just a chaotic last couple of months of the year. I forget every year

1:29.5

just how hard November and December are. I think it might be akin to women in childbirth and how

1:37.4

right after you have your baby, you forget how painful childbirth was, something like that,

1:42.0

I think I've heard. That is what it's like to work

1:44.9

retail in November and December. You forget how busy and hectic and wonderful, but chaotic it is.

1:52.9

And so November and December, I just don't do as much reading as I would like to do. That being

1:58.9

said, I still tackle, let's see, six books in November, which is pretty good.
