What we're saying is that making jokes about a book without acknowledging that it's racist isn't funny, and we don't want to do that.

Yeah, but we are airing the episode as we originally recorded it because I in particular don't want to pretend like I never made this mistake and I want to promise to do better in the future.

Yeah, so all this is to say it doesn't mean we want to avoid talking about problematic art or that that's even possible.
