to celebrate, and my speeches have a tendency to end up a bit somber, so I'll be brief. As many of you

know, I've put on a Christmas party for this department every year since I became

chief for one very simple reason. This season is about shining a light into the darkest nights

of the year, combining our wills against the shadow and cold of winter and saying, no, you will

not prevail. We will endure.

And that's what we do.

Every day.
