Summary

There are few franchises that made as much impact last generation as Mass Effect, which may help explain why there's so much anxiety over Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Both Editor-in-Chief Austin Walker and Managing Editor Danielle Riendeau have been playing (or watching someone play) Andromeda, while Senior Reporter Patrick Klepek has been watching, with some horror, as the Internet tear the game to shreds. Beyond impressions of Andromeda, we discussed our long history with the series, why there's so much pressure on the new game, and reach deep into The Question Bucket.

Yeah, it's St. Patty's day. It's St. Patty's a beach seat. It's not St. Patrick. The real St. Patty itself. That's right. Before the show you told us that you drove the snakes out of Ireland and replaced them with dinosaurs. And then that they were then replaced by angry internet commenters who'd read your piece about John Trump. Yeah, it's a very calm. You know, hey, I don't remember that. It's a part of the art of the deal. Please. Yeah, I want to Catholic school. I don't remember this part about St. Patrick's.

0:59.0

It was a very important part. Yeah, it's how do you think he got those snakes out of there? You know what I'm saying? I don't recommend I don't recommend my path. It's a it's a bad one. Which path specifically? You know, the one that went from snakes to dinosaurs to trolls. Let's not get too specific. We go to a lot of paths we could talk about. The path that led me to being in this moment right now. It's a it's a great moment because we're all

playing a video game. We are all playing video games. Yeah, that's real quick. Does anybody have St. Patrick's days plans? Is anybody? I've reached a point in my life now where my St. Patrick day plans tend to be like go inside.

1:40.6

Last year was a great one. Last year was a really good one for me because I became an EMT again on St. Patrick's day. That's a bad day. It celebrated at a par and you know, there are immediately things I could do at that part. Help people.

1:54.4

Help people who had drank a little too much of their green beer. But this year I'm probably going to go to sleep. Yeah, that's a reward.

2:02.4

There's still like coming off of packs. I feel like I needed a real I like packs. I had a good time. I get to meet people. But then like there's also the feeling of like, oh that weekend didn't happen.

2:11.7

I didn't get that. I don't laundry got done. The sleep debt was not worked off. You know, the things that need to happen on a weekend didn't happen.

2:17.4

The sleep debt. Yeah. Is that like a work off your sleep debt on the weekend?

2:22.0

Was that a real thing? Yeah. Because I never sleep. I don't ever feel better when I actually get more sleep than you are so far in debt that you're not even helping.

2:31.5

That's probably what's going on. Oh boy. Well, I am playing a video game. You are. That's pretty cool. I'm playing a video. I'm mostly watching. It's the same deal with Horizon. I am mostly watching playing a little bit mostly watching.

2:43.6

Mass Effect in drama is out there to some degree. Sort of. Obviously there are a few copies out there for outlets. But also the EA Access program has allowed people who subscribe to that to get a taste of the game.

2:56.6

It's like technically 10 hours of play, but it cuts off at a certain point in the story. Right.

3:03.3

And it's like taking over social media not in the way that I think EA would prefer. No, it's been. It's been. I have not seen.

3:14.1

And this is something I might write about later today, but I've not seen people with knives out for a game like this in a long time. And you know, it is no secret that people that are passionate about video games are also equally as critical about video games. Go to any comments.

3:32.1

You know, I don't know if you've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen

it. There were fun times when I did a lot of video games to a lot of some of the edges of Mass Effect and drama on a technical perspective, but the Glee that people have about it is not something you usually see with criticism of a video game. There's a sort of like a fucking bio wear sort of element to it that I, yeah, I haven't quite unpacked or if this is lingering from Mass Effect 3s ending if this is like a larger sort of

4:32.1

I am confused at where some of this is coming from.

4:34.7

Do you have any theories?

4:35.6

Yeah, I know a lot of this, at least to my mind,

4:39.7

I am not a scholar of this subject,

4:41.6

but to my mind, there was a lot of pushback
