There's been some good var and there has been some bad var.

Today I was watching Australia versus Denmark.

Denmark were a goal up Christian Ericsson scored a very good goal for them, but then Australia

got a penalty off the back of a var referral.

I don't think it was a penalty.

Sorry Australian listeners, I'm glad you got a draw on everything else, but I think this

is one that var got wrong.

When the var got wrong, the referee who watched the replay, I think he got it wrong.

But without var in the first place, he would have just carried on the game and been

incorrect by not giving a penalty.

Now we have seen var write some wrongs in this tournament so far and I think that is the

plus side of it.

That is where the advocates of var can say, look, the game wasn't really interrupted, the

flow wasn't really interrupted and the decision was right.
