of the Centers for Disease Control, Dr. Susan Monares, has been fired.

Earlier this evening, the Department of Health and Human Services announced that Dr.

Monars is, quote, no longer director of the CDC.

She was confirmed by the Senate less than a month ago.

The Washington Post report, she was pressed for days by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., administration lawyers and other officials over whether she would support rescinding certain approvals for coronavirus vaccines.

Kennedy and other officials questioned Minares on Monday on whether she was aligned with the administration's efforts to change vaccine policy.

But tonight, the White House confirmed she was officially terminated.

The CDC is now also without some key senior leaders

following the HHS announcement that Minars was out,

four other top officials resigned.

One said they could no longer serve in the role
