our episode today. I think what is so singular about the dissent is it doesn't innovate a lot of stuff, not

really when you get down to the brass tax of it, but it is easily, I think you can dub it, a contemporary horror classic, if not a horror classic.

And the reason for that is because it's actually quite simple but really effective.

It nails everything it sets out to do. but really

the characters are who they are, we don't need a lot of backstory to them.

storytelling in this which I think Neil Marshall, the director and writer, really nailed and I don't know if he's ever nailed it to this extent since.

The film I'd kind of say is my second favorite of his is probably Dog Soldiers.

Michael Fastbender before he was Michael Fastbender and he's done a few others but the dissent is his calling card and why wouldn't it be it's a great classic film.
