I'm so excited this week because we're doing something that I've always, always wanted to do,

which is to talk to a real-life TV writer.

If you see something, you better, you better say something. So, we're going to bring on that

So we're going to bring on that writer Samir Gar-Dar-Daz, to talk about some of his experiences being a person

of color in a writer's room. And then we're going to do a little quick gut check about the Oscars,

which were two weeks ago.

My guest today is Samir Asad Gardezi. He's an award-winning writer who has written for film and TV shows

like Modern Family. He's also recently spearheaded two Writers' Room projects. That is hard to say.

Break the room, writing for color, inclusion, and culture shift, as well as the Muslim Writers' Room

with Unity Production Films. Welcome, Samir. Hey. So, Samir, we have this game on the show called Halal or Not,

where I basically give you a word or phrase and you have to give it an up or down, halal or not,

and your opinion on it. So first up, this is based off of something you tweeted,

peeing your pants.

Um... something you tweeted, peeing your pants. Um, uh, I would say, uh, I'm going to go ahead. I think better conversation will lead

the route to me saying, halal.

Uh, why, why do you think it could be okay? You've said you think it might not be bad if it didn't feel so cold.

It came from this very honest premise of me believing that warm anything is amazing.

And so when you're in jacuzzi, when you're in a scalding hot shower, all of those are positives, right?

So if you had the benefit of being able to release and at the same time have a jacuzzi-type feel,

isn't that the best of both worlds in a lot of ways?
