This is what we call a two-fer, ladies and gentlemen.

We're going to be discussing two films by Andrei Shulowski, third part of the night, and The Devil.

First up, third part of the night, which stars Leshak Talashinsky.

As Mikal, a man whose family is wiped out at the beginning of the film, putting him on the path of becoming a secret agent, as well as the subject in a creation of a vaccine for typhus.

Again, this is a Zulovsky film, so my spoiler warning really doesn't apply here. Anything we say might actually help elucidate this somewhat cryptic film.

So, Kat, when was the first time you saw a third part of the night?

And what did you think, ma'am?

This was like down to our friends at second run DVD, because they put out a lovely DVD release of it.

It's just fucking bonkers.

I love it.

And it seemed to consistently talk about it.

You know, like we've been doing all the Chack films, like The Fifth Horseman is Fear and, you know, the more surreal Chack films. It seems to come up, even though it's a Polish film, always seems to come up in

those conversations.

I'm not going to say I immediately got the film.

It took a few watches and I'm not sure I completely understand it now,

even after we've already podcasted on it and I'm writing a book on Shwowski.
