broadcasting live from Stanley Hall discussing the 1998 slasher film, Urban Legend. This film was

directed by Jamie Blanks and written by Silvio Horta. Following the re-emergence of the slasher

subgenre after the 1996 smash hit Scream, this film creatively repurposed urban legends to tell a cohesive story

set against the backdrop of familiar horror tropes. While the film was poorly received by critics,

it was a financial success that would go on to spawn two sequels and create a cult following.

So, Urban Legend, what were your first impressions on the film?

I was a child.

Uh-huh.

And so was I.

And this was some of the coolest shit I'd ever seen.

Like, I thought it was awesome.

And, like, watching it now, it's, like, less magical.

I'll just say.

But I feel like the premise is so cool

that they can get away with a little bit more

than they would have if the premise had been different

if that makes sense.

Like just a standard slasher?

Exactly.
