Summary

Being a great leader is the chief responsibility of a business owner. Every single employee is looking to you for both leadership, AND as a model for their own work ethic. It’s a chokepoint really, poor leadership will kill any business regardless of how much potential it otherwise had.

So it’s a lot of pressure, and “becoming a strong leader” is such a broad goal it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The truth is, great people make great leaders. It’s largely a culmination of your overall excellence as a person. Practicing discipline in other areas of your life will transform you into the type of person others want to follow and emulate.

In this episode, we break down this process and cover ways you can accelerate your growth as a leader. We also discuss how your employees view you (the boss), how to build confidence, and tips for becoming a better leader at home.

And so, you know, what I think is really cool about that is, you know, me and Kel were just barely talking right before the podcast, right before we started recording.

0:36.2

And Kel has an 18-year-old. What is he, almost 19,

0:38.9

though? Literally in two days, man. Yeah. So, April 1st, he turns 19. So tomorrow.

0:44.2

Yeah. Is that tomorrow? Yeah. Two days. That was yesterday. Two days was yesterday. You're still

0:49.4

living in yesterday, Brad. So Kel has a 19-year-old, or going to have a 19-year-old tomorrow, right? And

0:56.2

after I wrote some of the notes down that I wrote down this morning just to kind of cover

1:00.8

1:05.6

notes says, you know, about your children or employees, you know, they watch what you do more so than they listen to what you say.

1:12.9

And sometimes it's hard to wrap your head around that, right?

1:15.9

Because we're so used to, no, do this, don't do that.

1:19.6

We talk to them.

1:20.8

We try to control more than the lead.
