Dune is conceived of as a planet that is totally desert, so that water on it is the metaphor of, say, oil here, very appropriate at the moment.

It is a metaphor of clean air, metaphor of water itself, I mean potable water.

And it's a metaphor for the shortages that we are encountering because of overpopulation.

And the story is told in terms of the people who are recognizable. You'd recognize these people, but they live in a culture that is somewhat different.

We're going to be talking all things Dune, including the 1984 David Lynch film, or should

I say, the Allen Smithy film.

We thought this would be a great way to usher in the brand new

version of Dune directed by Dennis of Villan Wave set to release on October 22nd of this year.

And I don't know about my co-host this evening, but I'm very excited for the new film, and I hope

it's a box office success. We need some box office hits. We had the

new Marvel movie that came out that did pretty well. I think Candyman's done okay, but

overall, the box office is just way down and I definitely want to see that get going again.
