Today, we're going to begin with a bigger tangent than normal. You see, as we advance in the story, I want to do a recap at the

end of each century to explore what's going on in global history. Context is everything.

How does our podcast fit into the wider narrative? But the problem for us right now is that I

haven't had a chance to do that yet.

So I'm going to give a fair bit of context so that you can understand what is really going on

when the English seized in New York at the end of the last episode.

You see, if we are going to understand what is happening in New York, then I really need to get into the history of Indonesia.
