May 27th marked what would have been the 110th birthday of actor Vincent Price,

and today we're saluting the legendary star with three of his old-time radio

performances.

And since we're talking about Vincent Price in the context of old time radio, of course we're

going to hear him as the Robin Hood of Modern Crime, the saint.

Price starred as Simon Templar, the gentleman adventurer created by Leslie Charterus, on radio from

1947 until 1951.

And second only to Roger Moore from the long-running television series,

Price is probably the actor most associated with the character.

He's in fine form in the pair of Saint Mysteries will hear today, beginning with Marvin

Hickerson Private Eye, originally aired on NBC on December 3rd, 1950.

Now all of the episode logs and research material I found says that this is called Martin

Hickerson.

Maybe I'm not hearing the T because the character's name really sounds like Marvin to my ears.

Whether he's Marvin or Martin, he's an amateur gumshoe who the saint meets with at the request of Hickerson's long-suffering girlfriend.
