How are you, my friend?

I, unlike so many critics of last night's Super Bowl game, you and I are recording Monday morning,

I love that game.

I love defenses.

I love to watch great defensive play. And, boy, that was a that game. I love defenses. I love to watch great defensive play. And boy, that was a

terrific game and I love seeing Sam Darnold in the spotlight. Well, look, there's a lot of California

story in this. As far as just the broader football story, I think most people that listen to Radio Free

California come for the football. They don't much care about the California politics angle. They view us as

really a sports podcast. And I will say that I'm with you. I don't think it is always fun to watch.

And I don't think last night's first half was necessarily fun to watch. But John McKay, who was a legendary coach at the

University of Southern California, was the coach probably when you were there, right? What years were

you there? Seventy-88-82. He had left a few years before he got there. I think he had died before.

No, no, no, he was to coach Tampa Bay when you were there.

But John McKay once said, offense sells tickets, defense wins championships. Yeah. And that was the case this year. And Sam Donald from San Clemente High School. San Clemente and Modern Day, I think, right? Didn't he play at Monterey? He played at San Clemente. My mistake. Yeah, a lot of USC quarterbacks have played a modern day.

Matt Barclay, Matt Leinert, and so forth.

But, Sam, Donald is a San Clemente High grad and a multi-sport athlete there and was a phenomenal Trojan quarterback.

Won a Rose Bowl, won a Pac-12 championship, won the Pact 12 championship

against Stanford in 2018 in the same stadium that he just won a Super Bowl last night.
