Summary

We have an old friend on the show today. Clay Bonnyman Evans completed his AT thru-hike back in 2015, yet his latest hike is the intriguing Cape Wrath Trail. Clay shares his experience in his own inimitable style, even adding an unscheduled walk after the hike from Edinburgh to Glasgow. Because, well, why not?

Clay is a contributor to the Trek, and you can follow his blog here https://thetrek.co/the-cape-wrath-trail-the-wild-wonderful-230-mile-at-of-the-uk/

He has added further links to illustrate some of the topics he brings up in our conversation to further aid you should you wish to follow this epic route.

Also on the show today, the Dude, Brandon Jacob, shares news of what he hopes to become an annual "Dudefest" at Trent's Grocery on June 1. If you'd like to attend or help out with the event, text the Dude on 713-443-8311. You can also email him at brandon@contractorscfo.com (don't forget the "s"), though text is his preferred means of communication.

I'm using my hike in the UK on the South West Coast Path to help raise money for my absolute favorite charity, Parenting Matters, on whose board I've been privileged to serve for over a decade. You can learn more about the hike and the organization–and donate–by visiting

Hike with Steve - Empowering Parents, One Step at a Time | Parenting Matters %. And, maybe, you'll get a personal picture of me thanking you with your name etched in the sand during my hike. I hope you want to support this critical mission.

Don't forget. Check it out.

I often ask listeners for ideas on who to interview, and I'm sure several of you say, "I could do that. I've got an awesome story to tell." You're the person we need to hear from. If you'd like to be interviewed on the podcast, just register as a guest on the link below, and I'll be in touch. https://www.hikingradionetwork.com/show/mighty-blue-on-the-appalachian-trail-the-ultimate-mid-life-c/guests/intake/

Hey guys, it's me again, Steve Adams and Mighty Blue. Today is the last episode that we'll be coming out prior to leaving for the UK, though there will be another one next week on April the 11th, by which time I'll be in the UK. The week after that, on the Thursday, we'll have a report on the first three days of hiking the southwest coast path with our Monday episode coming out the following week with days four to seven. I hope to publish two episodes a week on Mondays and Thursdays

until I'm done sometime in June. And with all the preparations I've been putting in for this hike,

1:03.5

yeah, shocker I know, I've been keeping our recent episodes at or under an hour. Today we have

1:09.7

an old friend back on the show.

1:11.4

Clay Bonham and Evans agreed to speak with me about his recent adventure sometime last year on the

1:16.1

Cape Roth Trail in Scotland. This was originally intended to be a second section of the show,

1:20.9

but Clay is so observant and, to be honest, so informative and entertaining about the trail

1:25.3

that I made it a full interview out of our conversation

1:27.9

and as usual Clay didn't disappoint. We'll hear from Clay in a moment. Then I brought back another

1:33.8

old friend of the show. Back when he hiked the trail in 2016 I believe, Brandon Jacob was given the

1:39.4

awesome trail name of The Dude and the Dude Fest was born. Well, the dude is back on today with a very

1:45.8

interesting announcement that will interest a lot of the class of 2024 hikers. We'll hear what's

1:50.4

going on with the dude after Clay. And just before we chat with Clay, I just wanted to mention

1:55.3

that I've been so moved by the number of you who've responded to my South West Coast Path

1:59.2

challenge called hike with Steve,

2:02.7

benefiting parenting matters,

2:04.2

a local 501C3,

2:07.5

who are doing life-changing work for children and families in our community.

2:09.9

And remember, whatever you give in the challenge will be doubled by the Flans of Trust,

2:12.1

so your $50 becomes $100 and so on.
