It remains to be seen if this is the true October surprise.

After all, nothing seems to have changed in the race for the White House

in months, no matter what Donald Trump says or does. And he said and done a lot.

Special counsel Jack Smith, whose effort to prosecute Trump for crimes committed in his bid to overturn

the 2020 election took a hit when the Supreme Court gave

president's immunity from prosecution is back. On Wednesday, he filed what appears to be new

evidence to make the argument why the case should go forward. For example, on the January 6th day

when rioters had breached the Capitol and were threatening to hang his vice president,

and after Trump had tweeted to his sheep that Mike Pence had lacked the courage to do the right

thing about blocking certification of the election, a Trump aide rushed into the Oval Office to tell

him Pence was in real danger. Trump looked at the aid and said, so what? Smith also quoted a White

House aide whom he'd like to call as a witness, who heard Trump say to his daughter after the election,

quote, it doesn't matter if you won or lost the election, you still have to fight like hell.
