right. The Trump influence factor is a mixed bag. On one hand, yeah, he did get these two holdouts

on the phone, Ralph Norman and Keith Self. Norman also, by the way, said that Trump reminded

him that he supported Nikki Haley, as fellow South Carolina in the primary, shows that Trump

never really forgets these things. He asked him, what do you want to close this deal?

Norman told reporters that Trump wasn't really the issue for him that he knew where Trump

stood.

He wanted assurances from Mike Johnson that he would fight on things that Trump says he wants,

on matters of border security, as well as cutting federal spending and cutting the budget,

which Trump doesn't

really seem to care that much about. Keith's up as well said he was mostly frustrated by the way

the last Congress went, and it seems like they were ultimately just making a point. Now, at the end

of the day, Trump did get his wish. He did get these two ultimately on board after, you know,

Mike Johnson held the vote open for an hour. But also over the last month, we've seen the limitations of Trump's power and Trump's influence

as well.

You mentioned the nominees he had, most notably Matt Gates for Attorney General, who the Senate

quietly rejected.

And Trump just kind of accepted the L and moved on.
