The last time we had Mike Murphy, the Republican anti-Trump strategist on the political

junkie back in early June, he said this about what could happen in the aftermath of a bad debate performance by President

Joe Biden.

I'll tell you, Ken, here's what I'm worried about on the Biden side.

Pretty clear at the election were held today, at least before the trial or the verdict,

Trump would win.

So what do we do?

We're going to challenge him to a debate.

I like it offense. But if good Biden shows up, they're going to get a reset. If bad,

let me tell you why you're wrong about the economy and what day is that Biden shows up,

I think they're going to be big calls for him to get out before the convention and replace

the candidate. I think they're underestimating how high the stakes are in this

debate, and they better damn well be ready, or there's going to be, I believe, a legitimate

call to find a new nominee. Now, they need Biden to agree. There's no one ceding them, but I don't
