We have another successful AT thru-hiker on the show today. Yet Audrey Payne seemed very unlikely to get the chance to hike the trail a few years earlier. How she recovered, and ultimately succeeded, is a story that she tells here in a conversation with Steve.

I'm actually kind of buzz right now as I'm only a few weeks away from heading back to the Appleshton Trail as my shakedown for my big hike of the year, the Southwest Coast Path, otherwise known as the Salt Path, back in
0:54.5	England in mid-April. Those of you know me either personally or here on the pod will know that
1:01.2	preparation is not one of my strengths. Yet I've done a lot better this year and I've been walking
1:06.4	pretty much every day since the new year began. I also gave up drinking on the 31st of December,
1:12.3	though I did have an accidental beer a few weeks ago. And funnily enough, a glass of champagne
1:18.2	last night as we celebrated the birthday of Dana's sister, Tracy. Other than that, no booze.
1:24.0	If you've read or listened to my books, you know that that is quite an effort for me.
1:28.2	I've also bought new socks, new boots and a shirt, so I'm gearing up to go.
1:33.3	Today we have another young lady who completed her through hike back in 2018.
1:37.6	Her name is Audrey Payne or Gloustick, and she had to overcome some severe physical limitations
1:42.6	to even be able to step out onto the trail.
1:45.2	She's just released a book about it, so we'll also be talking about that when I introduce her in a few moments.
