On this episode of Newt's World, how many of us think that healthcare in the United States is ineffective, inefficient and very expensive?

In Nebraska, Iowa, information on housing, transportation and other non-clinical needs is being exchanged electronically.

Doctors and healthcare organizations know the importance of health data in treating their patients, but they do not have access to all of a patient's health data, such as when the patient has to go to the emergency room or if the patient sees a different doctor in another part of town.

Because of this inability to share information, patients have to provide their health history every time they see a new doctor and doctors don't have the complete picture of their patient's health.

In 2020, sync health, a health information exchange that operates in Nebraska and Iowa began taking steps to address that problem.

Here to talk more about this new movement toward accessing health data and better patient care, I'm really pleased to welcome my guests.
