I need to start with the Republican attempt to impeach Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas,

not because he's guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors,

but because Republicans want to make a point about their unhappiness with the situation

at the border. That situation happens to be untenable, and for some reason it has taken

Democrats longer than expected to realize that this is not only an issue about security

in the United States, but it's one

that could and will be used to pummel them in the election. That's precisely why, when

Senate Republicans and Democrats came up with a plan to deal with migrants in the border,

a bill that would also send military aid to Ukraine and Israel, Donald Trump would have none of it.

Why solve a problem that can be used to clobbered Joe Biden over the head

from now until November 5th?
