Hello, everybody. Welcome to Crystal Kyland Friends. Have a really interesting show for

you today. We're going to be doing a really substantive interview about the 2008 subprime

mortgage crisis and great recession, talking to somebody, two people who are experts on

it because they did a documentary on it and we can really get into all the specifics

on the nooks and crannies and how this impacted people in a horrendous way and how it relates

to today's insane housing market as well and whether there are any echoes there too. So

a lot of saliency for the political environment we find ourselves in today and also the specifics

of sort of the housing market today and if there are any warning signs.

Yeah, the economy's fake is my takeaway. It all seems very unstable and fake and not good.

Before we get into that, we got a couple things that we wanted to talk about. Tell me the

thing about masks which just came across your radar. This is fascinating. So I thought this

was kind of interesting. So in general, I am, I actually am in support of the supposedly conservative

principle of local control when it comes to how they deal with the pandemic and their students

and what makes sense for their community. Okay, so that's just in general my ideology about this.

In Kentucky, I state that you guys know I used to live in and that I'm very interested in the

politics there. They have a Democratic governor right now, but they have a legislature that is

held by Republicans. So initially the Democratic governor had put in place a statewide mask mandate

for all of their school systems. Republicans were very upset about this and so they passed a law

that and were able to I think overcome his veto because they have that level of numbers in

the state house and senate there. They passed a law saying no, no, no, there can't be any statewide

mandate. We're going to put this kick this to the local level. Their expectation being of course

that since Kentucky is mostly a conservative state and you have a lot of counties that are rural and
