The Japanese had attacked the US naval base at Pearl Harbor

in Honolulu, bullets in bombs and torpedoes

and slammed down out of nowhere,

killing 2,400 Americans and less than an hour and a half.

Japan had already rolled through much

of northern and central China.

Before the communist, it slowed it to salt

by intentionally destroying dams along the Yellow River,

killing many Japanese, but as many as in million Chinese.

They were vicious.

The japs or whatever they were called

behind closed doors at cabinet meetings

or in the war planning rooms or send offices.

They had slaughtered as many as 200,000 civilians

in the Chinese capital.

The knew how long it would be

before the Japanese were bombing San Diego,

or Seattle, or San Juan Warrigan.

The US needed a weapon.
