Summary

Here's what we talk about in this week’s Thinking LSAT podcast: Andrew asks what we think his chances are of admission to the University of Iowa College of Law. He scored a 155 on the LSAT without any preparation (and is now scoring much higher), and is retaking the test in October. He will have a compelling personal statement, and has impressive extracurricular and leadership activities. He also has a potential letter of recommendation from an attorney. Carmen will apply to law school next fall. She graduated from California State University, Chico with a bachelor's degree in history and a 3.0 GPA. She also works as a paralegal. She asks if we have tips for studying the LSAT on her own while working full time. She also wonders if there are grants and scholarships available for her first-choice of Lewis & Clark Law School, given her GPA and potential LSAT score. In addition, will her experience as a paralegal help her gain admission? Danny disagrees with our approach of not reading the question stem first in the Logical Reasoning section. We talk about Danny's approach versus our recommendations. We also get an update from Andre who took our suggestion to slow down and analyze Reading Comprehension passages. Here's the link to the LSAT tracker we mention during the show. This lets you track your progress and discover what you need to work on. Take a listen and let us know what you think. I ran into a traffic jam at Starbucks. I got

0:26.7

the Starbucks up my street where there's one employee who works there where I can walk in the front door and I just the fact

0:36.7

that she's there means that everything is going to be like 10 minutes slower than it normally is. I think I should probably just

0:45.8

turn around and walk out when I see that she's there but I was hungry so I

0:50.6

had to do it and so then of course like she fucks everything up and then I end up having to wait and

0:56.7

So anyways sorry for pushing back our call time today

1:00.9

No, no problem. I was late too, so it was perfect. Great, great. We've got a bunch of emails from

1:08.8

listeners today, so I guess maybe we should just dive right in.

1:14.0

Sure, let's do it.

1:15.0

All right.

1:16.0

So the first one is an update from Andre in Philly.

1:20.0

We talked about some of Andre's issues last time, a couple times ago.

1:25.9

I don't know.

1:26.6

Anyway, Andre says, I wanted to say, thank you for taking the time

1:29.7

to discuss and answer my questions on the most recent podcast.

1:33.0

I believe you correctly diagnosed the reason for me performing so poorly after prep testing much higher.

1:40.0

I'm now trying to implement your suggestions to slow down and carefully analyze each

1:45.9

logical reasoning passage. Although I already knew I should do that, I'm now consciously
