I'm Annie Jones, owner of the bookshelf, an independent bookstore in beautiful downtown Thomasville, Georgia.

And this week, I'm recapping the books I read in August.

A couple of weekends ago, we hosted our final reader retreat of 2022. We were able to host two this year.

And it was everything we could have hoped for. We greeted readers and friends from all over the country and introduced them to our small town.

We talked about Emma Straub's this time tomorrow, and upcoming fall book titles, and how to make time for book clubs.

It was a joy-filled bookish weekend, and we cannot wait to do it again.

A lot of people have asked us when we're doing it again, and plans are in the works for three different retreats in 2023.
