| 0:00.0 | Welcome to The Holy Post. I'm Skye Jatani. This week we again have a special episode. It is the holidays. We're kind of on break, but this one is really different. I think you're gonna like it. |
| 0:10.1 | Last year I had the blessing of being a guest on a podcast called Love Thy Neighborhood hosted by Jesse U-Banks and it was really great. They're super talented over there and they produce some fantastic content for that podcast. |
| 0:24.7 | It's more NPR-ish in its style. It's more highly produced. They do interviews with people and pull together themes and I was so impressed with what they did and we kind of hit it off and the folks there are fans of The Holy Post that we thought wouldn't be great to kind of co-produce an episode together. |
| 0:39.7 | So not long ago Jesse and I got together and we co-produced an episode, this episode called The Gospel and Social Media. |
| 0:46.7 | And it's a way to not only deepen your understanding of this issue and be introduced to more thinkers on the topic but I also want you to be introduced to The Love Thy Neighborhood Podcast. |
| 0:56.7 | I want you to subscribe to them, go out and get more of their content. I think it'll be really encouraging to you and a blessing. |
| 1:02.7 | So on this episode you get a taste for what they do and it was a real joy to co-host it with Jesse. I think you're gonna enjoy it a ton. |
| 1:10.7 | And we'll be back next week with Phil and Christian and myself for a big mail bag episode to start out the new year. |
| 1:17.7 | Thank you for everybody who made the past year of Holy Post possible. Thank you especially to our Patreon subscribers. |
| 1:23.7 | Thank you to the Holy Post subscribers and to the With God Daily subscribers. All of you through sharing that content, telling other people about it, have made this entire ministry possible. |
| 1:34.7 | I hope you had a wonderful holiday and that your new years off to a great start and we'll be back with you next week for a regular episode of The Holy Post. |
| 1:41.7 | Until then, here's Jesse U-Banks and me doing an episode of Love Thy Neighborhood on The Gospel and Social Media. |
| 1:48.7 | So a couple of years ago I was really intrigued by this idea of boredom and so I decided that I would go around and actually ask young adults, what do you do when you're bored? |
| 1:58.7 | When I fill myself getting bored, I tend to look at my phone. My first instinct is to check Facebook or visit a website. |
| 2:10.7 | Sometimes I look at my phone, not always though. |
| 2:15.7 | For many of us scrolling on the supercomputer in our pockets, it's become an instinctual habit. |
| 2:21.7 | In fact, studies have shown that about 40% of our daily activities are performed out of habit. |
| 2:27.7 | Author Gretchen Ruben writes, habits are the invisible architecture of our lives. |
| 2:32.7 | So what do our habits say about the kind of life that we're living? |
| 2:37.7 | Okay, let me give you one other scenario. Let's say that you're at the grocery store and you're at the checkout line and the person in front of you has a ton of stuff and it's going to be a while. |
| 2:47.7 | What do you usually do with yourself in that moment? |
| 2:50.7 | Oh yeah, I definitely look at my phone. I definitely look at my phone. |
