Summary

In this episode, Fr. John and Mary continue to talk about transitions in parish life, only this time Fr. John asks Mary to speak about this from the perspective of someone in the pews. It all ends in an exhortation to allow ourselves to love ever more genuinely.

Hey, everybody. Welcome to you were born for this podcast with Father John Ricardo and Mary Guilfoyle.

0:06.0

We're a couple of missionaries at Acts 29, and this is the podcast where we talk about how acquiring a biblical worldview brings us great hope.

0:15.3

God who created and rescued this world and calls you and me to be agents of transformation and recreation. Mary,

0:22.9

how's life back in the United States of America? Hey, we're holding down the fort, Father John,

0:26.9

but I have to tell you, we miss you guys like crazy, and we're trying to follow your travels

0:31.1

because Steve and I knew, of course, we had all of our travel documents, and so day by day,

0:36.5

we're following you all.

0:38.3

So tell us where you've been and where you are right now. Well, first of all, on behalf of Rick and Albert and the rest of the 97 folks who are with us here, we've been praying for you and for Steve, and we're sorry that you weren't able to join us, but we look forward to the next opportunity. So we are right now on our way to Ephesus,

0:55.2

which is going to be timely for what we're going to talk about in a second. We left Athens yesterday.

1:00.1

We've been in Thessalonica and we've been in Philippi and in Athens, and we're on our way after

1:06.8

Ephesus to Rhodes and then to Crete and then back to Athens through Corinth.

1:14.2

So please God, Paul is becoming more and more, not just a figure in history for all of us as

1:22.2

we're on our pilgrimage, but a real friend. And you know from being in the Holy Land, you go to places that you read about in the New Testament

1:31.1

and you just never read the New Testament in the same way.

1:33.4

And I think that's what's happening for people as they see, oh, like, that's the river

1:38.1

where Paul went and Philippi and met with the women because there was no synagogue and

1:43.9

that's where he encountered Lydia and

1:45.8

whatnot. So it's just been extraordinary. But again, we miss you. And I'm going to ask you

1:52.0

just tee up the title of the episode because after I pray, it'll bleed right into where we are

1:58.7

because the scripture we're going to share today took place

2:02.5

where we're going to be in just a few hours.

2:05.9

Yeah, yeah.
