Tom Pelliserro from NFL Network says Panthers quarterback Cam Newton believed to be

dealing with a Liz Frank injury, I'm told. Plan for now is to keep rehabbing him in hopes of

returning and avoiding surgery. But it could be a while until he's back on the field. Kyle

Allen's show until then. So the interesting part about this was at first it was a mid-foot sprain.

Right. It's just weird. They were hoping it would remain a sprain. Instead, it's a Liz Frank

injury, which means that he's dealing with dislocated bones. And obviously, foot injuries,

very hard to deal with and come back from. So it's going to be Kyle Allen, and he's not a

rookie. He's a second year guy in his second start through four touchdown passes returning home to

Arizona. So is this a good thing for the Panthers? Even though Cam Newton obviously beloved in

Carolina, but Kyle Allen looked pretty good. Well, I think it is a good thing for the Panthers.
