Well, I feel like I'm going to butcher the Czech language enough already without trying

to do some greeting in checks, so I just keep it simple.

Apologies up front for butchering the names and everything.

I've already tried to spell out some of these things phonetically, so just be warned.

So this week we are discussing Zabbenik Brynich's 1965 film The Fifth Horseman is Fear.

The film stars Miroslav Makach as Dr. Braun. The film isman is Fear. The film stars Miroslav Makka Czech as Dr. Braun.

The film is ostensibly set during Nazi occupation of Prague, where Dr. Braun isn't practicing medicine.

Instead, he's cataloging the items that Nazis have pilfered from Jews, who we can assume have been sent to their slaughter.

This is never spoken aloud, nor are a lot of other things.

Instead, the film is rife with a sense of overwhelming dread that manifests in several interesting ways.

We'll discuss those as well as other spoilers along the way.

I think maybe about four years ago now, which is five, four years ago was when I kind of

really seriously started to get into Czech cinema and it was through our mutual friend

who I believe you've had on the show, Michael Brooke. He's like Eastern European film historian
