My main source for this episode is once again, the book, The Monster of Florence by Mario Spezzi and Douglas Preston.

Great book. Highly recommend it. There's so much detail and interesting information I couldn't get to in these episodes.

So I highly recommend this book. It's so thorough. It's so interesting. And I also will use some Italian

newspaper sources for this episode as well. Where we last left off, it's the 90s and the

Monster of Florence case has a new set of eyes as Chief Inspector Ruggiero, Perugini, leads the investigation.

Local crepe Pietro Pachiani has been arrested.

Right.

That's the, that guy.

Yeah.

With the weird painting.

Yes.

And the, um, it's like a molester. He raped his daughters. Right. And he was imprisoned for that

previously. And he also was imprisoned for shooting his ex-girlfriend's lover. Right. So he had a lot of

connections. He had a lot of awful past awful

behavior and he was a great suspect. Yes. So he's been arrested. Pachiani's trial began in April of 1994.

During the trial, Pachiani kind of made a scene.

Oh, no.

He was, like, always, like, talking.

Mm.

Like, rocking back and forth, crying.

Sometimes he would shout in the middle of the trial.

Wow.
