Summary

This week, we'll be tackling an oft-requested topic; women warriors in the samurai class. Contrary to what you might think, women were actually very active in the roughly 800 years that make up the dominant time of the samurai class. Today, we'll be discussing just a few of them and learning about their accomplishments during Japan's war-torn past.

0:53.4	Since one of my motives for founding this podcast was to give myself some credentials as a teacher and lecturer,
0:59.8	I loaded up the distribution statistics for the first time in this podcast to see where we were.
1:05.8	The results were, frankly, astounding.
1:08.6	Apparently, we're averaging somewhere around 3,000 downloads an episode, and 10,000 downloads a month.
1:15.2	This is incredible, and far beyond what I imagined in my wildest dreams.
1:20.4	So, first and foremost, I want to say thank you to each and every one of you.
1:24.9	It's difficult to put into words how happy this response to this show
1:28.4	makes me. This brings me to our second point, something a few of you had already raised with me.
1:35.0	Advertising. Currently, the show is, of course, 100% ad-free, but I've been considering the idea
1:41.2	of advertising for a little while now. To be frank, I'm a little torn on this.
1:46.7	On the one hand, I worry about potentially turning people off to the show,
