And away we go, episode 368 of the Algoldi podcast, it is Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022,

that is, believe it or not, the 20th anniversary of my first professional on air shift in radio.

August 3rd, 2002, it was a Saturday morning, I did the Saturday morning update shift at

what was then Sports Talk 980. I was 22 and what I'll always remember about that day is

I was taking this fat burner called hydroxy-cut because I was trying to get ripped and I thought

that hydroxy-cut could aid me in my quest to get ripped. And hydroxy-cut had a fedra in it,

and a fedra ended up being a big deal when a pitcher for the Orioles Steve Beckler died just a few

months later. And I took the hydroxy-cut at an empty stomach because that's what you were supposed

to do if you followed the instructions. And I for like, this isn't funny, but I for like the

first outward or two of the update shift felt horrible. I was like, yeah, I probably should not have

taken the hydroxy-cut before this first update shift, but yeah, that was my experience. Well,

I'm not sure if the greatest sports broadcaster of all time, Vince Scully, ever took hydroxy-cut,

but sadly, Vince is no longer with us. Very sad news. Late night on Tuesday night, the Los Angeles

Dodgers announcing that the great Vince Scully has died. He was 94. Way too much death in sports

lately. You know, we had Bill Russell just the other day. Now here we have Vince Scully. Vince Scully

longest tenured broadcaster with a single team in pro sports history, 67 years. He was a Dodgers

broadcaster from 1950 through 2016. Think about that time, spin 1950 through 2016.

Vin was NBC's lead baseball announcer from 1983 through 1989. He also called play by play for NFL

games and PGA tour events. And what of my favorite facts about Vince Scully is his Washington DC

connection. Vin at the age of 22 got a job working for WTOP in Washington DC. So they're very much

was a DC connection for Vince Scully. So yeah, again, I don't know if Vin at 22 was pop in hydroxy

cuts, but Vin at 22 was working at WTOP in DC. So Vince Scully cannot say enough good things about
