Hey everybody, welcome to all have another podcast with Lindsay Hein.

I'm your host Lindsay, thank you so much for being here today.

Today we're listening to episode 362 and I'm talking with Lori Hinnis.

Lori is the head women's cross country coach at NC State,

their team won the national title at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2021,

which was a really big deal.

It was the first national cross country championship from NC State.

Lori was also named the USTFCCA National Cross Country Coach of the year in 2021.

Lori has been with NC State for a very long time all the way back to when she ran for NC State,

where she won a national title in the 5,000 meters and set school and conference records

while competing for NC State.

As a graduate student, she finished fifth place at the USTF Nationals

and earning herself a spot on the United States track and field team

in the 10,000 meters for the 1993 World University Games.

Lori also competed in the US Olympic Trials in the 10,000 in 1996

and she joined Coach Geiger's coaching staff at NC State in 92 as a graduate assistant.

So she's been with this team coaching since 1992.

One of the coolest things about her story is she got to coach her daughter Ellie.

Recently, Ellie now runs for Adidas professionally,

but Ellie was on the NC State team under her mom as a coach.
