0:32.8	Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the podcast. Today's episode is episode 36. In the last few episodes, I've taken my time and taken my share of personal wanders. So thanks for indulging me.

1:06.1	how this country grew up and the great men and women in it. This is a piece of Americana, and sorrowfully,
1:13.9	it relates to Americana that was called to service in the bubble of this tragic event.
1:19.8	I'm not going to explain that. I think most of you will connect with that in one way or another,
1:25.4	after you hear the Willis themselves. I hope so anyway.
1:30.3	So without further ado, let's listen to Episode 36. Philip Willis is an interesting character in this play. He was a retired major in the Air Force and a man that had served and become disabled during World War II. He was now at the time of the assassination on disability. He'd been active in
2:04.2	politics for a long time and actually was a state legislator in Texas during the late 1940s.
2:11.6	A pretty interesting time to be in Texas politics. President Johnson has a few stories of his own from that time.
2:19.3	I'm just saying. And of course, we'll cover all of that in another episode.
2:25.6	At the time of the assassination, Willis was an independent real estate broker.
2:30.5	But he was still active in Texas politics, and he was a personal friend of the then
2:34.8	vice president Lyndon Johnson. He knew personally all of the major figures from the Texas
2:40.9	Democratic political machine that was in the motorcade that day, Conley and Yarrowboro
2:46.5	and all the others. As his daughter would say in later years, he had come down to the plaza that day to
2:52.7	take pictures of and see his friends. Willis had a driver drop he and his family right there at the
