Summary

My friend Tony Fieldson (married father of two, active LDS) joins us to talk about his miraculous conversion story, and of his work to build bridges of understanding between members of the church and critics of the church. His goal is not to convert everyone to the Church or to demonize critics—but to bring us together as the same human family in respectful conversations. Tony is honest about his own mini-faith crisis and why he nevertheless stays a believing and committed Latter-day Saint. Tony's work is consistent with Elder Cook’s statement from the October 2019 General Conference: “Unity and diversity are not opposites. 0:30.9	I've seen his first video, and I encourage all of our listeners to connect with it.
0:35.3	It'll be in the show notes and we'll talk more about it. Just by way of
0:39.0	introduction, Tony is, teaches at the junior high level and the Anaheimary is teaching the fifth
0:45.5	grade. I think that's all online right now. Tony, is that right? Yeah, completely online at the
0:51.0	junior high level. So seventh and eighth grade. And yeah, we have some higher COVID numbers around here, so we haven't gone back to school yet.
0:57.4	And so, yeah, it's very interesting, to say the least, to teach that way.
1:01.6	And Tony is in his mid-30s.
1:05.1	He's married.
1:05.8	He has two kids.
1:06.9	He's a convert to the church.
1:08.3	So we will talk about his journey to join the church in his early 20s,
1:12.6	and then his decision to serve a mission in his mid-20s.
1:16.3	So this is going to be his conversion story growing up,
