A lot of the people who have been paying attention to Haiti for years and years and years,

their frame of reference is what happened in 2004. They see him and they think, oh, he's CIA still.

He's reprising his same old role and this whole thing of like Guy Filippe and Barbecue who

carried out that La Saline massacre. This is all a sciop, and this is all

being orchestrated by the CIA, and all the Haitians are just screwed because of it.

I don't think that's who Guy Filippe actually is anymore in the sense that he does have real

constituency. He was screwed by the U.S. He was basically thrown in jail on a plea deal from

money laundering charges. He was accused of drug trafficking, but he took a plea deal to basically

get out in several years. He got out of jail a few months ago and then was sent back to Haiti.

So, and he also talked. Oh, he was in jail in the U.S.? Mm-hmm. He was in jail in the U.S.

And so what happens with Haitian citizens that are in jail in the U.S.? Mm-hmm. He was in jail in the U.S. And so what happens with Haitian citizens that are in jail in the U.S., as soon as you're let out, you get deported back to Haiti.

He's now back in Haiti and, you know, talking about revolution and an uprising and all of these things.

And so he and Cherriesier are both on the same wavelength, and they're not part of this whole Kingston Caricom presidential transitional council, which is like the obvious U.S. tool.

So what will happen from here is anybody's guess.

Help me understand this because Caracom picks their candidates.

I get that. But is there not

still going to be an election? What they say is we'll have an election in like two years,

you know, with a guarantee of an election in like 18 months or two years. That was the same way

they got Ariel and Rian. He kept promising, I'll have elections next year, next year. And, you know,

he'd kick the can down the road and never have elections. I see. My other question is,

you mentioned that you had a friend in Haiti who has remained sort of steadfastly neutral as you've

become increasingly kind of sympathetic toward Cherie Z.A. And I do wonder, just as an alternative
