Talking baseball every week And the geek And the geek And welcome And welcome to the gleaming of the geek

0:21.6

And welcome to the gleaming of the geek podcast. That's John Bonus at Twinsdaily.com. I'm Aaron Gleeman of Baseball Perspectus.com. Usually, John is the one right before we hit record who is just sitting there listening to me complain about people and who I want to murder and things that are bad. And then he goes, okay, well, you're ready to do the show? This time, the roles are reversed. And I was like, yes, I'll kill that person with you. I get one second into the, second into the podcast, say, before we go any further, before we should mention that today's podcast is sponsored by seat geek. You're going to be able to download the seat geek app and get $20 off your first seat geek purchase. And also by Bomfell, if you go to bombfell.com slash gleamon, you're going to get $25 off your first purchase. We'll talk more about it. We'll talk about both of those in a little bit. John is coming in hot almost literally. You're a little tan, not really. I got a lot.

1:28.3

I got the sunburned, yeah.

1:30.1

John was in Florida.

1:31.0

Mostly from the Monday game.

1:41.8

For how many days? 10 days, more than that? No, 16 days. 16 days. Over two weeks, John. Yes. That's the math I'm going to do on this show. John was in Fort Myers covering the twins

1:42.9

And he's done

1:44.5

You've done this before several years

1:46.0

Yeah

1:46.4

The fourth year

1:47.6

I think John was in Fort Myers covering the twins, and you've done this before several years.

1:46.2

Yeah, the fourth year, I think.

1:47.9

You guys rent out a condo near the twins complex, and you each kind of go there and shift.

1:53.1

Fifth year, fifth year we've done.

1:54.3

But here's what I'll say, and maybe it's just, maybe this is not true.

1:57.6

Do you tell me, this is my perception.

1:59.6

You were much more reportery this time. Is that a word? You know what I mean? Maybe. Here's from my perspective. You always go down there and write articles because that's the whole point of it. You're there vacation a little, but also you work. Right. To show that Twins daily. Part of what the deal is is that we get to go down there, but we also are expected to write every day, so it takes a little bit of a load off the other writers while they're not there. They get a little bit of a break in March, right. Plus, you need to take breaks from the, you know, carousing and boozing and whatever you guys are doing down there. You know, you need to take a three-hour break to write something. It's good to, like, just calm yourself. But John went down there. He, I would say, not that there was news to break, but you were the first person, I think, to get some quotes about upcoming free agency from Dozier, and then some other, some newspaper writers then picked up that story a few days later and also wrote about it. You talked one-on-one with Joe Maurer about his upcoming free agency, which I thought was interesting, or at least to the extent that Joe Maurer can be interesting. It was interesting. Well, yeah, he didn't really talk too much about his free agency. But just his state of mind. Yeah, that's right. Which I thought was worthwhile. And, yeah, you wrote about all kinds of stuff for one or two things a day. All kidding aside, I joke a lot about, you know, don't read Twins Daily. Don't follow John on Twitter, all this stuff. You know, it's half joking, half not. But I thought it was really good, and I read every article. Really? And I even tweeted links to several of them to say like, I think I said it pains me to admit

3:29.0

this, but this is really good.

3:30.0

You should read this.

3:30.9

It was good.
