Thanks to James Sullivan for suggesting this week's detective show,

a mystery drama that starred a real life husband and wife.

It's standby for crime and it tells the adventures of

Los Angeles radio newsman Chuck Morgan and his loyal secretary Carol Curtis.

The pair covered the crime news of the City of Angels

and they often played detective to solve the crimes they reported. The stars of the show were married actors Glen Langeen and Adele Jurgens.

Radio detective fans may recognize Langean's name.

He played Mystery Writer and Amateur Sleuth Barton Drake on Mystery is My Hobby.

The couple met in 1949 as they were filming Treasure of Monte Cristo, a noir drama that starred Langean is a present-day descendant of the legendary

count of Monte Cristo.

Though they both worked steadily through the 1940s, the popularity of both stars on screen had begun to fade by the 50s.

Jurgans would retire in 1956, and Langeen embarked on a successful second career in real estate.

But before they bid goodbye to show business, they starred together in this syndicated crime drama.

And it's a fun show.
