With President Trump once again calling to reopen Alcatraz as a working federal prison now seemed as good a time as any to revisit our coverage of this famous institution and its most

infamous inmates and escapees. In this episode, we're going to walk you through the history of

Back in May, President Trump directed the Department of Justice in the Bureau of Prisons to explore

reopening Alcatraz to hold, in his words, America's most ruthless and violent offenders.

Around the same time, National Park Service Superintendent David Smith, whose team oversees

Alcatraz Island, responded to the idea, saying simply, it's just not well situated.

Despite the hurdles, Bureau of Presidents Director William Marshall told Fox News, we absolutely think

we can get it done.
