Hello and welcome to another episode of the Detroit Lions Breakdown podcast.

0:04.0

My name is Eric Schlett.

0:06.1

Joe can't be with us this week, so I'm going to do a solo podcast.

0:11.1

Expectations are this will be a little bit shorter than our normal podcast would be,

0:16.0

but I'm going to go through the same rotation and schedule that we would typically do. And so because of the lines were coming

0:24.2

off the buy week, we're not really going to have much of a game recap for you. But there was still

0:30.6

a lot of stuff going on that's worth talking about and previewing the Vikings is certainly

0:36.1

on the agenda today. So the first big news we should

0:40.5

talk about today is the Aidan Hutchinson deal. Lions secure another one of their core pillars.

0:48.7

And it's an unusual, I mean, it's a bit unusual from NFL purposes that that move gets done

0:57.2

during the season, but it's, I guess, not unusual for Brad Holmes. The Lions front office is

1:03.2

constantly working on, you know, how to improve their team. And this is another way for them to just once they, once they

1:13.0

1:19.8

everyone walks away pretty happy with this. Hutchinson ends up being the highest. He ends up getting

1:26.5

the most guarantees on his contract of all of a amongst all non

1:30.8

quarterbacks that's a nice feather in the cap for him even if he doesn't want to take credit for that

1:37.5

but the deal ends up being pretty good for the lions when you look at how the edge market was exploding.

1:47.7

You have, you know, Micah Parsons who's setting edge records and, you know, the Miles Garrets of the world and the JJ Watts of the world.

1:58.3

You just saw the edge market just consistently rising and rising over

2:04.2

the last, you know, six months. So being able to get in where they did and secure him at

2:12.6

the price point that they did, I think is really an important factor here.

2:19.9

Like it's he was pushing, he's going to average by the numbers of the hub in his new contract
