Summary

Though the Beatles remind us to get by with a little help from my friends, is there really any hard evidence to back their assertion up? This week we look into the data to determine whether the use of peer behavior and prompting is actually a worthwhile intervention. We explore how peers could support the occurence of social initiations, compliance with teacher instructions, and removal of attention-rich reinforcement. Because that's what friends are for!

This episode is available for 1.0 DUAL-DIAGNOSIS (1.0 LEARNING CEU).

I'm your host, Robert Perry Cruise, and with me as always are my fabulous co-hosts. Oh, hey there, Robert Perry Cruz. It's me, Jackie McDonald. And hello, it's me Diana Perry Cruz. Nice to see you all. Oh. Nice to hear you all. Nice to be here in the basement with you. Oh, boy. So I don't know if you guys noticed. I think I told you I did this, but then I don't know how much you actually follow our podcast feed. I have been. Okay. So on the past Fridays, I don't know, what month is this now or May? Back in March, when it was our 10-year, out of Viceray, which we could celebrate as long as we damn well, please, I suppose. Every Friday, I released episodes of my old podcast. I didn't see mine. It just came out today. Oh, okay, good. I was listening to it this morning to make sure it was still there. It's still my favorite song. Oh, well, it's on there. But anyway, we were releasing some old podcasts we'd done before we did this podcast. And that one was Jackie's first podcast. She talked about the song, Stars, Your Ex-Lover is Dead. Such a good song, everyone. Such a good song. Still one of my favorites. Yeah. Which was a podcast when I just talked about songs with people, their favorite songs, which I think is a great idea for a podcast. I don't know why I didn't take take off and make me a millionaire. You don't have enough friends.

I didn't take off and make me a millionaire.

1:42.7

You don't have enough friends. I didn't have enough right-wing hate speech on it, I guess, something like that. I don't know. In any case. It was a long time ago. It was like 12 years ago. Yeah. The market for right-wing hate speech just wasn't as good as it was now. Well, and the podcast more generally.

1:43.2

Oh, okay.

And in Jackie's first podcast episode ever, she mentions that we're going to do ABA Inside Track. And I just remembered it as like, yeah, we're going to do ABA Inside Track, a podcast about behavior analysis and behavioral analytic research. Every week, pick a topic, discuss it at length, right? And she mentions, coming soon, we have an ABA podcast. But you know what she mentioned? Me and Diana have an ABA podcast coming.

2:03.7

I was conveniently left out.

2:05.9

Apparently, she thought I was doing so well with my $0 podcast that I didn't need to be

2:11.1

included in this awesome plan.

2:13.8

I'm so glad you're part of it.

2:15.7

Well, I kind of wish that you had a third person,

2:18.4

some other peer on that episode to sort of, you know, prompt you to be like, you should include

2:22.6

Robin that. He's also a behavior analyst and he owns the microphone. So maybe we should be nicer

2:27.9

to him. And then you would have been prompted to comment on, you should come with your microphone.

2:33.2

He wants the microphone. You want the microphone.

2:34.5

I own the microphone. You do all the things. I do all the things. Without you, we would not be a podcast. To be honest, without any of us, we would not be a podcast. No. So we all hold vital pieces. Yeah. But anyway, I was holding a grudge this whole time. I'm just telling you now, I've been mad for days and days. and months and months, if you're listening to this, for all you know, I've been bad since before March.

2:54.5

And I've been mad for days and days and months and months.

2:51.0

If you're listening to this, for all you know, I've been mad since before March.

2:54.3

And I said, you know what? I'm going to turn that rage. Let's turn it into a productive episode of this podcast that I wasn't invited to be on, apparently.

3:01.8

343 episodes later, nobody asked me to be here. Who knew? And I thought, let's talk about those peers mediating social scenarios. Let's talk about peer mediation. Do you like that? Landing, boom. And of course, I am just joking. I did not get mad. I forgot Jackie said that until this morning. Actually, what I forgot I said that too. Why, you can listen. I was like, oh, where was it? I was like, there's Jackie talking about our podcast.
