Welcome to the Charles C.W. Cook podcast, episode 34.

As many of you notice, I took a break for the week of July 4th.

This was my sixth fourth as an American citizen.

I said on Twitter that it was my fifth fourth,

but that was wrong because I can't count.

It was my 13th fourth as an immigrant to the United States,

and I think that this one was by far the most American yet.

In part because this year, I got to set fireworks off in the street.

Now, I know I can be a bit of a parody of myself on July 4th,

and I certainly was this year.

Wearing a Hawaiian shirt and an American flag bandana, I drove around the corner in my golf cart

to eat burgers and hot dogs and set fireworks off in the street.

The only thing that could have made it more American is if I'd had a bald eagle with me,

but he's been sulking since Luther Abel disappeared, so I guess that'll have to be next year.
