Andy was on the fence about allowing this to happen. This podcast is about its

guests and he didn't want to make it about himself. Myself and some others had to

cajole, prod, guilt him into even allowing it.

When Andy and Nicki started this podcast, the first question every one of my friends had was,

when is someone going to interview Andy? No one was sure, but everyone wanted it to happen.

After his interview with me came out,

the idea of me interviewing Andy started out as a joke.

Like many things in life, sooner or later, the joke sounded more and more reasonable.

After a while, the thought of anyone but me asking Andy questions and teasing his story out was something I didn't want.

As a once fan turned close friend I felt that I had a unique

perspective on his life and I wanted to help his story be told. I can also be persuasive and that helped.

There is perhaps no name in fishing circles that

carries with it as much implication as Andy Mill. In the sport of fly fishing,

his accomplishments stand alone both in their extent and frequency and the duration of his dominance and competitive flyfishing is without parallel.

As Steve Huff defined the profession of a fishing guide with his hard work and determination,

Andy Mill defined a contemporary role of Angler as an

involved and educated part of the team through his relentless pursuit of success.

They tell you never to meet your heroes. I'm here to tell you that Andy is an exception to this rule,

and I hope you enjoy what I consider to be the opportunity of a lifetime,

to sit down with a hero of mine and listen as he told his story. I hope you enjoy it.
